March is Women’s History Month so we want to celebrate the month with a bang and some great public service!
First, we are holding a Women’s Feminine Hygiene Products drive that will kick off the first of March and span the whole month. Representatives from the caucus will work with each YDWA Chapter to develop a center collection point in their county and choose a community organization, like YWCA, to donate the items to. Women’s experience with homelessness is much different than men’s but their needs are considered the same. This is why we are stepping in and taking a stand to help homeless women across the state gain access to the hygiene products they need. Chapter Chairs we will be contacting you soon!!
Second, the National Women’s Political Caucus of Washington is hosting their Annual Candidate Training on Saturday, March 14 at the Tukwila Community Center from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. We will be sponsoring the cost of the training for up to 5 women. If you are interested in running for office at any point as a women this is the training you need. Contact Audrey Miller at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in the caucus sponsoring your ticket. If you need transportation or lodging accommodations may be possible. Contact Miller as soon as possible. Sponsorship is first come first serve.
Several blog posts about why we celebrate and need Women’s History Month are in the works as well as a coordinated movie watch. Stay connected to learn more about the Women’s Caucus activity and to join the caucus and get involved join our Facebook group “YDWA Women’s Caucus.”
