On March 14th, the Young Democrats of Washington and the Pierce County Young Democrats sent eight fabulous ladies to the National Women’s Political Caucus of Washington Campaign Training. There were women from all around the state, of all ages, who were interested in either running for office, running a campaign, or there to learn about the basics of campaign work.
The day began with the entire group going around the room and introducing themselves and saying if they planned on running for office. It was an empowering introduction to hear so many wonderful women who planned on running. Next, we learned about the Nuts and Bolts of running for office from Political Nerd, Jesseca Brand.
Throughout the day we had breakout sessions that included learning about field work from Halei Watkins of Planned Parenthood, hearing from Rachel Padgett about the fearless attitude needed to fundraise, learning the basics of social media from Dylan King, and the importance of image from the wonderful Cathy Allen. The closing session was about Creating you Message from Emma Tupper. It was a fantastic day filled with useable information, new friends, and empowering the young democrats to run for office. If not today, maybe tomorrow!
