The National committeeman serves with our National committeewoman to represent YDWA to the Young Democrats of America. The ideal candidate could attend committee meetings across the country. If unable to attend, they would still engage with YDA, determine if YDWA would like to advocate for policies or projects on a national level, and share national resources with our local organization.

The committeeman gets one $350 reimbursement from YDWA if he attends a meeting. This position reports to the Executive Vice President, and is expected to help the Executive Department with party relations, building legacy documents, and other projects as they come up.

The Policy Director is responsible for working with the Government Affairs department to educate YDWA memberships on policies relevant┬áto our interests. This director should take initiative and bring creativity to YDWA’s policy work, to engage a broader group of Young People in policy discussions.

The Policy Director should world closely with the Advocacy Director and YDWA caucuses, and assist as needed with caucus research of policy statements or blog posts. The biggest responsibility of the Policy Director is to organize the Young Democrats of Washington’s annual Lobby Day. The 2016 lobby day will be Presidents’ day, Monday, Feb 15, 2016.

Digital Media Director

The Digital Media Director would join YDWA’s communication team. This role is for someone interested in helping state-wide media campaigns that would highlight who YDWA is as an organization. The Digital Media director should be knowledgeable of social media platforms, and work with the VP of Communications to increase our reach and grow our base of followers.

Examples of past media campaigns include joining the Washington State Democrats’ #DemSelfie campaign, and last year’s #TurnOutForWhat pictures about why Young Democrats across the state vote. We encourage the Digital Media director to get creative and think outside the box.
