On September 10, 2008, John Zogby, president and CEO of Zogby International and author of "The Way We'll Be: The Zogby Report on the Transformation of the American Dream," will be joining us for an evening lecture at University of Washington's Kane Hall room 110. The event is being hosted by the World Affairs Council, and would be a great opportunity to hear about John Zogby's view of the new American consensus and hear his evidence of common factors that define an emerging generation of political and civil citizens. YDWA Campaign Invasion Dates Announced!
YDWA has targeted races across the state that we will go campaign for, and has set aside dates to be Young Democrats campaign days where we go out for endorsed candidates from around the state. By volunteering with the Young Democrats on these and other local races we really can have an impact in this election. In the past, Young Democrats have been credited with being the force that has won elections, and this year we have the opportunity to do it again.

King County YDs Celebrate with Summer Picnic
The King County Young Democrats held their annual summer picnic July 12th at Alki beach.
The picnic was a huge success, with about 40 people eating BBQ, potluck meals, playing in the sand, and discussing politics. Jim McIntire, Representative from the 46th LD and candidate for State Treasurer stop by to enjoy the weather. Judge Mariane Spearman, and relatives of Superior Court candidate Susan Amini also stopped by to enjoy our company.
Northwest WA Candidates To Host Joint Fundraiser August 5
Three local Democratic candidates are joining hands next month for a combined fundraiser in Mt. Vernon. State Representative Jeff Morris (40th LD), senatorial candidate and current San Juan County Commissioner Kevin Ranker and Skagit County Commissioner Ken Dahlstedt will hold a joint campaign fundraiser at Morris's home from 5:30 pm to 7 pm on Tuesday, August 5th. All three candidates have endorsed one another and are committed to working together this election season.
Obama Abroad: 200,000 in Berlin
Barack Obama had a busy week, going abroad to Iraq, Jordan, Israel, Palestine, Germany, France and England. While traveling, Obama was able to see our troops in Iraq, discuss strategy with foreign leaders and work to regain the goodwill toward our country, so much of which has been lost during the seven years of George W. Support Pro-Choice Democrats with NARAL Pro-Choice America
You can help NARAL Pro-Choice mobilize pro-choice voters across the state. They will be calling voters to let them know about the pro-choice candidates running in their district as well as giving them a friendly reminder to mail in their ballot or get to the polls. There are eight dates between August 2nd and August 18th when they will run Phone banks for the primary election. Phone bank shifts are 2 hours long and NARAL will provide scripts, training, and snacks.
