On February 9th, voters in Seattle will be asked to renew two expiring levies that provide essential funding for Seattle’s schools. If you live and vote in Seattle, you should have already received your ballot. If you have not received your ballot, or need a replacement, call the King County voter hotline at 206-296-VOTE (8683).

Neither of these levies is a new tax; they renew expiring levies.

The capital projects levy addresses basic safety issues like replacing old roofs, retrofitting and upgrading buildings for earthquake safety, and replacing fire alarms and sprinkler systems.
The operations levy funds 23% of Seattle Public Schools’ day-to-day operating expenses. It helps keep class sizes down and pays for teachers, librarians and instructional aides in every school.
If we don’t renew these levies, Seattle’s public schools will suffer a reduction in funds that will devastate their ability to provide our children with a basic education.
